Special livery applied to a General Dynamics F-16C Block 40C of the 122nd Fighter Wing (122 FW) – 163rd Fighter Squadron (163 FS) "Blacksnakes" of the Indiana Air National Guard (IN ANG), part of the U.S. Air National Guard (USANG) and based at Fort Wayne Air National Guard Base, featuring special tail markings paying tribute to the Indiana Hoosiers college football team in anticipation of the January 2026 NCAA Football Championship game against the Miami Hurricanes. Known as the “Blacksnakes,” the 163rd FS operated the F-16C/D Block 25 from 1991 to 2006 and the F-16C/D Block 30 from 2006 to 2010, when the unit transitioned to the A-10C Thunderbolt II. The squadron’s return to the F-16C/D was triggered by the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2023 (FY23), which authorized the USAF’s request to retire the 21 A-10Cs from the Indiana-based unit.
