Le nom de l'avion vient d'un événement survenu le 1er avril 1982, lorsque l'équipage de l'An-2TD, numéro de côté 7447 s'est échappée, avec ses familles à bord, derrière le rideau de fer vers Vienne (d'où son nom informel plus tard 'Viennois').
