Special livery applied to a Boeing F/A-18F "Rhino" from Strike Fighter Squadron 94 (VFA-94) "Mighty Shrikes" of Carrier Air Wing Seventeen (CVW-17) of the United States Navy (USN), assigned to the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and based at NAS Leemore, featuring the special "1776/2026" livery on the fuselage, "250" on the vertical stabilizer, and the inscription "E PLURIBUS UNUM" on the fuselage to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. The phrase “E Pluribus Unum” is the Latin motto that appears on the Great Seal of the United States. This seal is used as the de facto emblem of the United States, appearing notably on official documents such as passports. It also appears on the seals of the President, the Vice President, Congress, and the Supreme Court (which are very similar to the Great Seal). It can also be found on the country’s currency and on the fresco depicting the Apotheosis of George Washington on the ceiling of the Capitol Rotunda. “E Pluribus Unum” literally means “one among many” or, in a more direct translation, “Out of many, one” (corresponding to the motto “Unity is strength”). This motto refers to the integration of the Thirteen Colonies into a unified federation. The fact that the phrase “E pluribus unum” consists of thirteen letters makes its use symbolic of the original Thirteen Colonies that rebelled against British rule and became the first thirteen states of the Union, represented today by the thirteen stripes on the American flag.
